Chosen Charity
Since 2004 GHRL have made a donation every quarter to a nominated Chosen Charity. Each quarter a Charity has been selected having been nominated by one of the GHRL Interim Management Team, and is usually one with which they have had either a personal link, or a close interest in some particular way.

Solstice Nurseries is a social firm, based on South Deeside, Aberdeen, which provides meaningful training and work experience for people with mental health issues. Solstice Nurseries is a wholesale grower of Scottish Hardy Heathers, herbaceous and specialist plants and also provides garden maintenance services. Scottish SPCA

GHRL in the Community: GHRL are proud to support as our Chosen Charity for the period April to June 2010, the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Scottish SPCA is Scotland’s animal welfare charity. The Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals are building a new animal rescue and rehoming centre in Aberdeenshire, which is also to be used as part of their “Prevention through Education” programme, where they are aiming to reach over 70,000 primary school children to promote care and respect in the treatment of animals. Cystic Fibrosis

GHRL in the Community: GHRL are proud to support Cystic Fibrosis as our Chosen Charity for the period April to June 2009.
Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is the most common life threatening inherited disease in the UK. Children with CF have frequent hospital appointments and at times admissions. The CF travel and equipment fund at Aberdeen Children’s Hospital provides CF education, and also equipment to benefit children while in hospital or at home. Befriend a Child

Befriend a Child are a 1:1 befriending service for deprived and vulnerable children in Aberdeen. Each child is matched with an adult volunteer, who spends a few hours a month taking part in activities aimed at raising the young person’s self esteem, increasing confidence, introducing new skills and having fun!
